1 - FESTIBIÈRE DE GATNEAU : annual beer festival
Friday May 30 to Sunday June 1, at the Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau, QC
One of my favorite events in my own region. It's got beer, it's got great food (including BBQ), it's got expert conferences. This event is just an incredible get-together around the pleasures of discovering craft beer. There are even activities for the whole family, and Festibière has musical guest to entertain you during the evenings.
2 - MONDIAL DE LA BIÈRE
From June 11 to June 15, at the Palais des Congrès in Montreal, QC
Keeping our mind on beer... I know almost everyone in Montreal enjoys a cold one!
This event is a must see : as it is one of the largest beer related event in North America. Over 550 different products will be showcased. Tons of workshops and cooking demonstrations with renowned chefs will be presented.
3 - IMPORTING WINE, BEER, AND SPIRITS FOR PLEASURE AND PROFIT
Saturday, June 7, at the Old Mill Inn, Toronto, ON
If you have ever wanted to work in the wine industry as an agent or just import special wines you have discovered during your travels, this seminar is invaluable to you. I have had the opportunity to follow this seminar in the past, and I gained a wealth of knowledge on the inner workings of the LCBO system. You'll learn the typical process to import wine and be able to estimate the costs. The host, Steven Trenholm, is an expert in the field and definitely teaches you more than you expect about dealing with wineries, potential clients and the LCBO itself.
4 - THE GREAT CANADIAN CHEESE FESTIVAL
June 7 and 8, at the Picton Fairgrounds and Crystal Palace, in the heart of the Prince Edward County, ON
Cheese as for ages been synonymous to great food and good times. While we Canadians have a tradition of bringing cheese to our celebrations and gatherings, this time Canadian cheese invites you to gather and celebrate around it! Cheese makers from Ontario, Québec, British Columbia and the Maritimes are showcasing their products for you. You'll also be able to taste County wine, cider and craft beers and many more fine foods during the Artisan Cheese and Fine Food Fair or at tutored tastings. If you are from Ottawa or Kingston, sign up for a for a SAAVY bus tour to the festival and a visit of two wineries.
5 - TORONTO WINE & SPIRIT FESTIVAL
June 18 to June 21, at Sugar Beach in downtown Toronto, ON
On the eve of the Summer Solstice, bring in the hot season on the beach with a big party around good wines, creative cocktails, trending spirits and live entertainment. Tour the vendors and have a taste of what they have to offer while listening to live artists or take part in one of the many tasting seminars.
