This is an honest, straightforward, and well made generic Bordeaux with ready to drink charm.
As the second 2011 Bordeaux wine I've tasted in a short period of time, I am reviewing this in comparison to the previous wine, Ch. Puyfromage.
Le Grand Humeau, is a generic Bordeaux appelation wine made with a merlot-cab. franc-cab sauv. blend. The color is a medium ruby with garnet edges. The nose is forward with ripe red fruit, currant, roasted peppers, musk and green peppercorn. This wine's mouth feel is elegant, and refined. The fruit is true to the nose, tannins are supple and acidity if refreshing. Le Grand Humeau does not present the austerity of other young Bordeaux, and makes for a pleasant and easy drinking wine. Of medium body, this wine's finish is clean and lively.
