A sensational find! I almost fell off my chair.
This fortified wine (Port style) from Turkey impressed many tasters when I opened the bottle. It comes to us from Kavaklidere, the largest producer in the country, and is made of Narince a white grape indigenous to Turkey. This wine will remind you of a Cream Sherry at first with nutty and raisin aromas, this comes from ten years of aging in oak barrels. But it opens to an enchanting complexity of cooked peaches, dried fig, dark honey. It will charm you with a taste; the obvious sweetness does not overpower the wine, it is perfectly balanced by a juicy and refreshing acidity. Expect the flavor to persist in a clean and sweet vanilla-like finish.
Pair this wine with creamy desserts, a variety of cheeses or a pan seered foie gras on brioche with brandied fruits.
